LOS ALTOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Box today announced that the Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE), a
nonprofit organization committed to accelerating the transition to a
sustainable world powered by clean energy, is leveraging the Box
platform to power a cloud-based document submission and review process
as part of the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP). Funded by the
California Air Resources Board, CVRP promotes the adoption of new
zero-emission vehicles, including battery-electric, plug-in hybrid
electric and fuel cell vehicles. The new online process for submitting
supporting documents, powered by the Box platform, has decreased the
time between initial rebate application submission and receiving
supporting documents by over 50%. Since the system went live in late
February 2015, over 8,000 rebate applicants have submitted their
documents online.
“As the administrator for CVRP, the Center for Sustainable Energy has
issued over $200M in rebates to California consumers, businesses and
government agencies since 2010,” said Jennifer Rey, senior operations
manager for CVRP at CSE. “We’re leveraging innovative cloud-based
technology to shift from a paper-based process to an all-electronic
system where rebate applicants submit supporting documents online and
our processing staff reviews them online. This move allows us to
streamline our operations, issue rebates faster and help meet
California’s ambitious goals to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas
emissions by stimulating deployment of zero-emission and plug-in hybrid
electric vehicles.”
“The Center for Sustainable Energy is a great example of a nonprofit
using cloud technologies to streamline business processes and support
their mission to drive the adoption of clean, sustainable energy
solutions,” said Karen Appleton, senior vice president of Industry
Alliances at Box and founder of Box.org. “By leveraging Box as the
platform to power an all-electronic application process, CSE is
furthering their position as the catalyst for sustainable energy market
development and transformation.”
The new cloud-based system uses Box’s Content API to allow applicants to
submit supporting documentation for their rebate application. Leveraging
a customized Box Embed integration with Salesforce, developed in
collaboration with Soliant Consulting, CSE’s rebate processing
specialists are able to review the submitted application and supporting
documents online. After reviewing the materials, the specialists either
approve the rebate or communicate with the applicants about follow-up
actions. Using the online document submission portal, powered by Box,
what once took several weeks via United States Postal Service can now be
electronically completed in a matter of days.
Nearly 50,000 third-party developers are building services on the Box
platform, leveraging the Box Content and Box View APIs. Box’s APIs
enable developers and enterprise customers to build powerful
applications for the information economy and transform how individuals
and organizations create, consume and collaborate on content. Today,
more than 45,000 organizations around the world leverage Box to share
and collaborate, including global brands like GE, Procter & Gamble,
AstraZeneca and Schneider Electric. Nonprofit organizations including
Oxfam International, Kiva, and Teach for America also utilize Box’s
content collaboration platform as part of the company’s Box.org
initiative.
